- The first, and oldest, belief is that "the sons of God" were fallen angels who consorted with human women, producing giant offspring called nephilim (Heb. נפלים). This view was widely held in the world of the first century, and was supported by Flavius Josephus, Philo, Eusebius and many of the "Ante-Nicene Fathers," including Justin Martyr, Clement of Alexandria, Origen, Tertullian, Irenaeus, Athenagoras and Commodianus.

Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown." (NKJV)Interesting, don't you think?

| Interesting if you can show me where in the Bible that the Angels (fallen or not) were ever referred to as God's Sons. Usually they are his servants, right? His sons are man. So I'm lead to believe that the Sons of God are those that believed in him while the daughters of men are those that did not believe in him but were of the way of the world. | |

In short, "Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them." (Job 1:6) "When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?" (Job 38:7) Only two humans are able to be called a son of God. Adam and Jesus. No other human can be called a son of God until we receive our glorified bodies in the future. I can tell you why Adam and Jesus are different if you want but for now I believe this verse will suffice: "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:12-14)
